When Your Kid Enters Boarding School For the First Time

Such a long hiatus.

Twenty-three years ago, after December school holidays in 1992, my parents sent me to one of the semi-boarding school in Penang. Now, half a lifetime later, my 13-year-old son followed my footsteps. I am half-hearted in letting him stay faraway from us, but since he wants it and numerous times showed his enthusiasm and encouraged by his dad, I had to agree. So, on 23rd March 2017 for the first time, we stepped our foot to MARA Junior Science College Kuantan. If I am not mistaken, boy is enrolled for the fifth intake.

I got a text message on Thursday, two days before school holiday. We have approximately a week to prepare for everything. As I packed his stuff and wonder am I ready? Is 13-year-old suitable to live by himself? Can he managed? Can I live in worry everyday what's going to happen to my son? There's too much negative and bad news I heard about boarding school that makes me worry.

I was assured by my husband that everything will be just fine. Boy will…

8th Ramadhan

It is the 8th day of Ramadhan. Meaning, Muslims all round the world has been fasting for 8 days, however I have missed the early 7 days. Boo hoo hoo. I have a feeling I am going to missed few days towards the end. Oh well..

I didn't have the chance to cook on Saturday after we reached home from my father's house. Went to Shah Alam to look for Mr. Fruitheart's raya outfit. I'd love to have the black sofa I found in one of the boutique. It is so elegant and nice!

And here are the food I cooked yesterday.

I made spicy anchovies; frozen it and I bought 1KG of beef rendang, frozen it as well. We have enough food for 2 weeks. Mr. Fruitheart made his first popia, bottom right. He used little bit of spicy anchovies for the popia filling.

So for today's buka puasa menu.. In shaa Allah, chicken curry, fried chicken, curry puff and left over mixed veggie.

P/S: I hope I have enough energy to be in the kitchen today, of course while entertaining my children especially the girls.

Thirty Five

Overdue post.

I don't know why number is such a big deal to ladies. When we were asked, "How old are you?" "What's your age?" I am sure you can guess what will be the most common answer.

"I was born in 1990."
"How old are you?" (answer with a question)
"Why do you want to know my age?"
"I am 25 forever in my heart."

Yours truly turned 35 years old on 20th May. Of course I almost panicked! HAHA. I am such a drama queen, aren't I? Honestly, if you ask me how does it feel.. It feels great and little bit scary. It is like you are already half way of your life, assuming the average life span is 70 (err, who's statistics is that..?) and you don't know what's coming your way for another 35 years.

I am starting to 'feel the age'. HAHA. You know what I mean. My body does not regenerate like it used to be. My hubby said, I might be having a 70 year old body because I don't exercise much. Grr!

I'd say I …

FN's Bucket List

I love the month of May. It is where I get to celebrate my birthday.. HAHA obviously. 2016 is the year where I turned 35. THIRTY FIVE! So here I am creating a bucket list for myself where I should be doing it 10 or 15 years ago. Well, it is never too late to start something.

Here are my top 10 list. I should have small bucket list every year so that I have some memories to look back when I sit back in front of the balcony facing the beautiful sandy beach in California. HAHA. Dream on!

1. Further my education
I am currently doing it in one of the university that offers working adults the flexibility to study while working. ODL - open distance learning. I will be completing my degree in 2020.

2. Perform Hajj and Umrah
Hajj is an imperative duty for all Muslims who have the resources and performed during the days of Hajj once in a lifetime. While Umrah, can be performed anytime during the year. InsyAllah, I pray that Allah gives the best of health to me and my husband also m…

2016: Happy Teacher's Day

16th May is the day where teachers celebrated their day. I remember back then when I was in my primary school, whenever the teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up.. I always stated in the form - teacher. As time goes by, I have decided being a teacher is not my passion. I do not have the courage to speak in public what more to teach children. I don't have the patience. Handling three kids is challenging what more 40 pupils? Nah. Forget it.

To all my teachers, THANK YOU for your kindness in teaching me.

P/S: I will always be my child's first teacher.

Our First Lite and Easy Weekend

Wow, some title huh? It is hard for us - me and my husband to have a relaxing or lazy weekend. For the past few months, our Saturdays and Sundays were fully booked. It is either sending boy for extra co-curricular at school, attending family events or went for tutorial. Phew!

So last weekend, boy only has nasyid practise on Saturday until 1PM. Meaning, we have one and a half day to do nothing. Says who? I still have to cook. First time, I made nasi minyak with ayam masak merah and acar rampai.Macam makan nasi kenduri kahwin oii!

The main ingredients for making nasi minyak.
I took the recipe from Azlita Aziz's blog: Nasi Minyak

I got to say, the whole family loves it although there is something missing with the taste. My acar sri rampai not as what I expected. It should have the mixed taste of sweet and sour. Maybe my measurement is not correct.

Thank you to my precious NOXXA for making my nasi minyak a success!

Nasi tomato, nasi minyak, nasi ayam - pass successfully.

And on Sunday, I mad…
